
Emma Mills
Emma Mills is currently in her 6th year as Headteacher at Birchwood Community High School and has dedicated her career to education since 2002. Throughout her career, Emma has served diverse communities across Manchester and Warrington, making a significant impact on students and schools alike.

As a Specialist Leader of Education whilst working in Manchester, Emma built a reputation for her leadership in schools. She has completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and holds a Master’s degree (MA) in Educational Leadership. Emma is also currently completing her National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) and serves as the Director of Education for One Community Trust, alongside her headteacher role. Over the last decade, Emma has shared her expertise at conferences across the North West and nationally, addressing a wide range of educational issues.

Emma is a Director of Peace & Mind UK and is also leading One Community Trust with the intention of becoming the first MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) Beacon Multi Academy Trust. Emma is passionate about mindfulness and has worked closely with Esther to bring mindfulness training to all schools in Warrington.
​
In addition to her work in education, Emma launched the Disconnect 2 Reconnect campaign last year to raise awareness about the dangers of social media and mobile phone use. She works closely with schools and families in Warrington to promote a safer digital environment for young people. Emma is also collaborating with Warrington Borough Council to roll out an initiative aimed at protecting children online as part of her campaigning.

Emma is deeply committed to promoting mental wellbeing for all and continues to advocate for initiatives that support the mental health and development of young people, educators, and communities.
